Mission, Values, and Vision

Mission

Grace Baptist Church exists to display God’s glory by knowing, loving, and obeying him, and calling others to do likewise.

7 Core Values

1. Rooting Our Worship in the Scriptures

God has spoken in the Bible. He stabilizes and sustains his people, the Church, as the Holy Spirit empowers them to hear and obey his voice. We seek to saturate our worship gatherings with Scripture through reading, prayer, music, and teaching and preaching. (2 Tim. 3:16-17, Col. 3:16-17, 2 Pt 1:16-21)

2. Committing to Tenderhearted Relationships

As God has established a covenantal relationship with his people, we covenant with one another to live our lives together. Because these relationships entail both obligations and benefits, we seek to show one another abundant grace, mercy, and patience as we help one another grow into deeper maturity in Christ. (2 Cor. 6:16-18, Rom. 12:1-16, Col. 1:24-29, 3:1-17)

3. Caring for Sinning and Suffering Souls

We seek to compassionately care for sinning and suffering souls — especially those who are oppressed or marginalized — with gentleness and humility that display God’s kindness so that sinners may be led to repentance and sufferers may find healing and comfort. We recognize that we will all frequently need to engage in repentance and receive comfort ourselves. (Isa. 42:3; Mt. 12:20, Rom. 2:4, 1 Jn 4:18, 2 Cor. 1:3-7)

4. Laboring as Citizens of the Kingdom

Because our allegiance is to Christ our King, we patiently work in this world to see his kingdom advance. We also steadfastly endure the trials of this world as we wait to dwell in our true home, the new heavens and new earth that will come when Jesus returns. (Ps. 2:1-12; 2 Tim 2:1-7; 1 Pt 2:9-17; 2 Pt 1:3-11; Rev 1:5-8, 11:15-18, 21:1-27)

5. Equipping and Sending Out Servants

A primary purpose of the church is equipping God’s people to do the work of ministry. It is our fervent desire to diligently raise up servants within our midst to be sent out so that they might plant churches, bolster the work of sister churches, and multiply disciple-making disciples to the glory of God. (Gen. 1:26-28, 12:1-3; Mt. 9:35-38, 28:16-20; Eph. 4:10-16; 2 Tim. 2:2)

6. Engaging in Local and Global Christian Partnerships

Although our church is one body, we are a part of Christ’s global Church. Accordingly, we seek to continually labor alongside our brothers and sisters so that we may see God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven. This involves both making disciples of all kinds of people near and far (the Great Commission) and loving our neighbors as ourselves (the Great Commandment). (Mt. 9:35-38, 22:36-40, 28:16-20; Rom. 1:14-17, 10:11-17)

7. Pursuing Theological Integrity

Our faith is ancient, yet God has set us in our own particular time and place. Accordingly, we seek to humbly listen to faithful voices of various traditions, both ancient and contemporary, to understand God’s Scriptures more clearly and apply them faithfully in our own context, speaking God’s truth in love and living that truth out in our actions. (Acts 17:22-26; 2 Tim. 1:13-14, Jas 1:22-27; 1 Cor. 12:12-13:13)

Our Vision

1. That everyone who comes in contact with our community may taste and see that the Lord is Good.

2. That every member be equipped to share their faith, communicate the Gospel clearly, and live out its implications in relationship with brothers and sisters in Christ.

3. That every member be equipped to be sent to serve the Church wherever the Lord calls.
